Zhudong Township is a commercial and industrial hub located between the Shangping and Touqian Rivers, ensuring abundant water resources. As the leading town in the southern-bank region (south of Touqian River), it was once one of Taiwan’s top three towns. Initially famous for camphor production, Zhudong’s prosperity accelerated with petroleum drilling, cement and glass factories, and lumber distribution expansions. Recently, the Hsinchu Science Park has extended into parts of Zhudong, revitalizing it as a high-tech R&D center.
