Situated in northwest Hsinchu County, Zhubei serves as the main gateway to the region thanks to convenient connections via National Highway No. 1, the West Coast Expressway, and Provincial Highway 1. As the county seat and primary urban service center, Zhubei is experiencing rapid growth. With the development of the Liujia HSR District, the second phase of the county seat, and new branch campuses of National Taiwan University and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Zhubei is poised for further transformation. The city is also known for its harmonious, multicultural community and strong civic cooperation.
The Chongyi Village aquaculture group in Zhubei cultivates mullet across approximately 60 hectares, producing between 100,000 and 150,000 fish and 90,000 to 120,000 mullet roe per year. The region’s characteristic “Jiu‑Jiang Wind” naturally air‑dries the roe, resulting in a unique flavor and texture celebrated throughout Taiwan.
Although Zhubei’s melon and papaya cultivation area is relatively small, the products are renowned for their sweetness and high quality. Watermelon covers 34.32 hectares with an annual yield of 1,201 tons, tomato covers 14.63 hectares with 295 tons, and papaya covers 2.76 hectares with 82 tons. Local farmers, supported by agricultural associations, regularly showcase their produce through tasting events and fairs, significantly boosting brand visibility and income.
