Hsinchu County boasts stunning landscapes and abundant natural resources. Its 13 townships and cities offer a wide range of tourist attractions, festivals, and agricultural specialties. The region is rich in Hakka and indigenous cultural heritage. The county government is actively building a tourism brand for Hsinchu, shaping a unified tourism image and promoting in-depth cultural experiences and ecological tours. These efforts are narrowing the urban-rural divide and revitalizing the county’s tourism industry.
Located along the development axis between northern and central Taiwan, Hsinchu County features mountainous terrain in the southeast and borders the Taiwan Strait in the northwest. The land gradually slopes downward from southeast to northwest, making it ideal for various human activities and diversified industrial development.
The county enjoys convenient transportation with well-established infrastructure, including National Highways No. 1 and No. 3, the Taiwan Railways Western Line, east-west expressways, peripheral roads in the southeastern mountain areas, and Provincial Highway No. 3. With the launch of the Hsinchu HSR station, a future plan to integrate three railway systems is underway, connecting with the Taoyuan Aerotropolis and Hsinchu City’s technology hub. This will position Hsinchu County as an international gateway and part of Taiwan’s 30-minute living circle.
With its locational and transportation advantages, the county is set to expand its development potential and strengthen its international connectivity, becoming a brilliant and globally oriented technology city.
Hsinchu County is home to the Hsinchu Science Park and the Industrial Technology Research Institute, forming Taiwan’s most crucial innovation hub. These clusters have driven the development and integration of the electronics industry. The county’s industrial areas focus primarily on industrial production, with service sectors playing a supportive role. These industries have high value-added potential and make the county one of Taiwan’s most promising investment regions.
The county aims to foster cross-sector industrial collaboration, support traditional industries, expand applications in metropolitan knowledge-based sectors, and utilize its transportation network to bring local products to global markets—creating strong competitiveness in industrial investment.
To create a livable, comfortable, and well-serviced environment, the Hsinchu County Government has continued to promote various projects in transportation, utilities, environmental protection, housing, sewerage systems, commerce, and leisure facilities. New townships are being developed to close the urban-rural gap and create a high-quality living environment that drives regional development and builds local strength. The development of a university town and integration of living zones, along with the acceleration of the Science Park Phase III project, further demonstrates the county’s growth potential and strengthens its competitive edge.
In recent years, Hsinchu County has actively pursued its vision of becoming a "City of Technology, Culture, and University." The county has advanced the "Three Parks, Four Universities" initiative—establishing the third phase of the Hsinchu Science Park, the National Biomedical Science Park, and the Taiwan Knowledge-based Economy Flagship Park, while attracting top universities such as NTU, NTUST, NCTU, and NTHU to set up campuses in the county.
With the development of the HSR station area in Liujia, these efforts will foster a university town and a low-pollution high-tech R&D zone, creating a knowledge economy hub and strengthening the academic and research ecosystem in Hsinchu.
In Hsinchu County, 76.30% of the labor force has a high school education or higher, indicating a well-educated workforce. Proximity to institutions like ITRI, NTHU, and NCTU ensures a rich talent pool in high-tech fields. Urbanization has accelerated in recent years, attracting population inflow and continuously raising the educational level—particularly the proportion of those with university or higher education. This trend provides a high-quality local workforce to support the county's future industrial development.
